Message from the Head of the Department ​ 

Welcome to the Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE).
The Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) welcomes you to the Islamic University of Technology (IUT), a subsidiary organ of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). As IUT’s oldest department, TVE has played a vital role in shaping technical education across OIC Member States. Originally established as the Instructor Training and General Studies department, its core mission has remained unchanged: to train instructors, technicians, and tradesmen, upgrade workforce skills to international standards, and conduct research on the evolving needs of technical and vocational education (TVET) in Islamic countries.

TVE offers internationally recognized programs, including:

# Three-year Bachelor of Science in Technical Education (B.Sc.T.E.), designed for students with a diploma in engineering background, specializing in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), and Mechanical Engineering (ME).

# Postgraduate programs, including a one-year Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Education and a two-year Master of Science in Technical Education (M.Sc.T.E.) for engineering and B.Sc.T.E. graduates.

# Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Technical Education, launched in 2020, advancing research and academic leadership in TVET.

TVE graduates hold key roles in TVET institutions, industry, and academia across OIC countries, with many serving as principals, teachers, researchers, and policymakers. Nearly all principals and teachers of polytechnic institutes and technical colleges in Bangladesh are TVE alumni, a trend mirrored in other OIC nations.
The department’s curriculum blends technical expertise with leadership, curriculum development, educational research, and emerging technologies. With a focus on innovation and vocational pedagogy, students develop the skills necessary for leadership in both private and public TVET sectors.
Beyond education, TVE fosters research excellence, producing scholars and experts who contribute to advancing global TVET. Our mission extends beyond technical training; we cultivate adaptive, visionary leaders who will shape the future of technical education. At TVE, we believe in creating professionals who not only excel in their fields but also drive meaningful change in the evolving landscape of TVET worldwide.
