Dr Md Abdullah Al Mamun
Professor and Head of the Department
Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun is Professor and Head of the Department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) at IUT. He holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Education from IUT, and earned his PhD from The University of Queensland, Australia. He has extensive teaching experience in both Australia and Bangladesh, contributing to science and engineering education, online learning, and TVET across diverse learning contexts. He has also worked on several research projects in both countries, focusing on inquiry learning, educational technology, instructional design, misconceptions in science learning, and the advancement of TVET systems. With a strong research portfolio, his work spans inquiry-based instruction, scaffolding of learning, student engagement and motivation, online and blended learning design, digital wellbeing, and technology-enhanced learning. He maintains an active network of international research collaborations. At IUT, Dr. Mamun leads curriculum development, instructional innovation, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening TVET and engineering education in OIC member states. He is committed to promoting learner-centred, skills-focused education that supports sustainable development and workforce readiness. Beyond academia, he enjoys reading, travelling, and fishing.
