Dr Haolader was Research Fellow at
Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems in Dresden, Germany (Aug 2000 – Sep 2004), (Fraunhofer is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization). At Fraunhofer he worked on various engineering projects including German Railway (Deutsche Bahn AG), BMW AG funded projects, in particular, he designed and developed computer based (software) systems for trains, automatic vehicles, and railway-platform/ station surveillance systems. Furthermore, working as Design & Development Engineer at DINA Elektronik GmbH in Stuttgart (Sep 2005 - 2009), Germany and as Computer Programmer at the Planning Division of the Ministry of Planning, Govt. of Bangladesh (Nov1998 – Apr 99), Dr Haolader earned industry experience in the real World of Work. At DINA he designed and programmed microcontroller-based embedded electronic systems according to functional safety standard IEC 61508. For example, he designed (in a team) DINA-SafeLine- Central module, Speed, standstill and position monitoring module, digital and analogue I/O module, Safety relay, and individually designed PROFIBUS & Ethernet Interfaces, which were passed through rigorous testing at Munich University Lab and then certified by Profibus International), among other products for machine and installation controls and for industrial automation and communication. During his tenure at the Planning Ministry Dr Haolader designed, procured, and installed the first Local Area Network (LAN) at the Planning Division as well as provided IT support service to the officials and staff of the Ministry. From December 1984 to November 1998 Dr. Hoalader taught at Technical Teachers’ Training College (TTTC), Dhaka, and at various Government Polytechnic Institutes in Dhaka, Chittagong, Tangail, Barisal and at Dhaka Mahila (Women) Polytechnic Institute under the Directorate of Technical Education of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of Bangladesh.
Dr. Haolader has presented numerous research papers/ talks at (inter)national conferences, symposiums and seminars held in America, Europe, and Asia, which have been published in journals and conference proceedings. He has written book-chapters and two text books.
Since joining the TVE Department of IUT he has been very much active and engaged in the development of workforce of the OIC member countries, particularly through TVET teacher training, research, and collaborating with other international actors in this very important field.
